Premier 70's claws and T-rods

Loading...

Okay, I'm seriously confused...

Have Premier Gigmaker 13,14,16,22.

The L shaped T rods will only start to grab once they are rubbing against the claw....a few more turns and they apparently seat into a slot in the claw itself.

Is this original/correct? It seems like there would be washers to keep the pieces from metal to metal contact...

Appreciate any advice/info....

Thanks

I've had exactly the same prob with my vintage Prem 'Outfit' drumkit.

You're right: putting in those white plastic washers will solve the prob immediately. I think they will work smoother than washers made of metal.

The claws tend to split on the sides...

Take one off,and look...bet you will see some splits...

I,m working on getting some perfect ones right now....

Yes, that's right. But it don't matter to me as I play the bass drum heads low tuned (and not sounding like a bongo). So there's no big pressure on those claws. ;)

Yes I'm having this problem too; Just got my early 70s kit back after 30 years hiatus (long story!) and the claws are showing cracks around the holes for the T rods. So what's to do? You mentioned white plastic washers... What, exactly did you mean? Build up with washers so the T rod clears the claw? Where did you source such washers? Any other ideas out there?

Thanks

White or blackNylon washers in the dimension 6 mm hole, 12 mm outer diameter x 3 mm thickness are ideal for the job.

They can be bought from almost any source of building materials - your local musicshop if nothing else.
