Here's today's work guys.

Wrapped the BD, did the wrap edges and drilled for the hardware.

Still have to paint the hoops and cut the inlays to finish this drum.

-------------------

The Floor tom has been wrapped for a couple of days now but finally this morning had some time to do the edges, drilling and final assembly.

I still have to cut the inlays and paint the BD hoops but I couldn't help myself and took this picture too.

The next three days are going to be really busy so I made an effort to "finish" this project today. I still have to get new heads, the BD hoops could be better and still need to find some real 60's Premier spurs but here it is.

Wow!

That is so awesome!

My kit is exactly those drums and I love em to death. However, they have definitely seen better days.

First off, an ex-roomate threw out my box full of the original parts! I took off the tom mounts off the BD and SMall Tom so I could use a RIMS mount and seperate stand. Also, lost were all of the internal mufflers(3) and the FT legs brackets. So where the rubber footies for the FT and BD legs.

Then, the little 4" snare I have got bent in the move back to Canada from China. It was my fault for not shipping it better, but the butt plate where the throw-off lever is bent and I don't want to bend it back coz it cracked and I think it'll break right off.

Oh yeah, missing one of the silver inlays from the bass drum hoop as well!

I've been dying to restore her but can't find any parts. Any ideas?

The other thing I've always wanted to do is to refinish the set. I've asked around and most people think that either the wood will come off in chunks with the glue (coz it's so old) or that the process will totally change the sound of the kit. I was thinking of getting laquered.

Any help or tips would be most appreciated and I am really amazed at the job you've done in the pics. A guy in Amsterdam told me they were late 50s.

The restore turned out fantastic! Having a kit that age (maybe older) is a labor of love. The red really makes it! Great job!

Jcymbal; Have you thought about putting your pics into book form and publishing "How to Restore Vintage Drums"? Great job and great documentation.
