Awesome job. Premier had some great looking wraps. The "Shimmers" being one of my favorites. Next to Mahogany. :) Those thin 3-ply shells just sing. In my opinion, Premier kits are the "sleepers" of vintage drums. The attention to detail and styling (art deco hardware) make them the Royls Royce of drums. Good if you are in the market to buy, but bad if youare trying to sell.-Tim
Thanks Tim. I agree that they are sleepers although I wonder if they'll ever wake up. The problem with the value being low is that it's hard to properly rehabilitate them economically. I'm glad I did in this case.
I agree 100% with Tim; Premier made truly beautiful drums that sound fantastic. I think the grey and blue shimmer were my very favorites. Classy finishes, fantastic lug design, great shells and a top notch chrome process make these drums an outstanding find. Well done on getting them back in shape.
Yes, not to mention die cast hoops as standard. Great kits to restore if everything is there as they are generally cheaper to buy. However, if stuff is missing like hoops, tension rods, dampers etc then they can get pricey for me as parts generally have to come from a long way away.
I especially like polishing these mahogany shell interiors as they can be transformed as dramatically as the exterior. Just a light beeswax furniture polish is all that's needed.
FFR428 - thanks. I can't watch a nice vintage kit slip on by. I just have to buy them. Some go to new homes after the rehab though
