Premier 2001 snare?

Loading...

Hi all,

So about a year ago I was at the local tip (refuse centre) and in the 'metals' skip was this snare drum. I just grabbed it and put it back in the car (how can someone throw away a snare!?). I've been using it ever since in the band and I've always said, its the best sounding snare I've ever owned even better than my Pork Pie and Sonor Hilite!

So was changing the the bottom skin (taking off the very old Everplay Extra). I thought, I wonder if this drum is anything special.

So looking around I think it's a Premier 2001 snare circa 1972-77. The badge was missing but it has the Premier 'flo-beam' mechanism and twin snare (with Premier written on them). It did have the slotted tension rods but I changed them a while back (I've kept them though). It's in amazing condition.

Can anyone help me shed any light on this old girl, what wood it is. I'd be interested to know what its worth but I'm definitely not selling it, I absolutely love it and we will never part!

Mahogany shell with Beech re-rings (if I'm correct). Your's seems to be in a GC/ VGC, so it's value should be around EUR 150 to 200 (over here in Europe), including all slotted tension rods.

I've sold mine in Grey shimmer together with the matching drum kit.

But still my Prem 200 (Aluminium shell) is my fav snare drum.
