Prelisting Rogers drum set w/matching wood Dyna

Loading...

hello all, I'm prelisting a Rogers Drum set (22" 16" 13") plus matching wood Dynasonic snare in Black Onyx. I am in the process of completing the bass drum hoops with original vintage black onyx wrap. Original faucet style "T" claws for the bass drum are included. As soon as they are completed, I will photograph and list in the "For Sale" section. This drum set would make a great Christmas gift. I would like to see this kit go to a collector who appreciates it for its rare color plus the rare matching wood Dynasonic.

Sounds cool, I bet it will have a rare asking price too if it has a decent wood Dyna! :)

I'm in the process of obtaining some additional snare lugs for the snare drum along with new drum heads for it and the bass drum. This is one sweet kit....if a 50 year old drum set could only talk what would it say?

"They" say that value is in the eye of the beholder. A Rogers set in black onyx with a matching wood Dynasonic snare might be considered the pinnacle of Rogers Drum manufacturing during the Covington, Ohio period.

OK, finally received the GENUINE vintage wrap for the bass drum hoops. I'll be sanding and painting the bass drum hoops then installing the vintage black onyx wrap into the 1/2" groove using contact cement, hopefully this weekend. Then, only the drum heads and this kit will be ready to list. I'm really going to miss the matching wooden dynasonic though......

The drum shell on the dynasonic is solid and is in good shape. The black onyx wrap has a crack about 4" or so long and about 1/8 to 1/16" wide. I spoke with John Aldridge at length concerning a possible rewrap of the drum. He said under no circumstances should a vintage drum set be rewrapped.

He said to rewrap a vintage drum set would diminish their value considerably. Since I consider John one of the nation's most knowledgeable vintage drum experts, I chose to leave the drum wrap as is. Plus, black onyx is a fairly rare finish. I did quite a bit of searching before locating genuine 1/2" black onyx wrap for the bass drum hoops. I'm striving for total authenticity in keeping the drums as original as possible.

After I complete the work on the hoops and the heads, I'll establish a price. This Covington, Ohio matching wood Dynasonic Rogers drum set is magic and I'm sure the new owner is going to enjoy them.

To justify splitting that set or rewrapping, given the issues you stated, would be impossible.
