So I have an old Trixon Luxus with their version of a Pratt/knob-controlled muffling strip in the bass drum and I love it. It's one of those love-hate features that I happen to love and can never seem to mimic with regular felt strips or other muffling techniques. My Trixon bass drum as a whole is great, but I can't stand the tom toms. Very limited tuning range, head fit issues and I'm not a fan of 13x9 rack toms.

So my question is...were there any other vintage drum companies that offered Pratt/tension controlled strip mufflers in their bass drums besides Gretsch and Trixon? Was thinking of selling my set and going for a Gretsch round badge, but I've heard all the bearing edge / head fit issues mean RBs are in person purchases only…so that limits me to Craigslist and local music shops. And RBs get extra pricey.

I'd do a frankenkit, but Trixon drums aesthetically are so far off from any other drum brand…and when this muffler eventually needs replacing, that part is next to impossible to find.

Thanks.
