Potential Sonor FT

Loading...

Now the listing says it's an 'old Japanese' drum of unknown maker.... but all the little things say 'Sonor' to me. Possibly Action or Swinger, c.1972-76. What do you guys think?? I'm tempted to pull the trigger, since I need one of those...

I could be wrong, but when Sonor switched from the teardrop, didn't the lugs have the mallets embossed on them?

if that's Sonor, it's 70's Swingers or Champions.

For me that is definetly a Sonor Action! Lugs are made of some kind of plastic!

I already told the guy that is not MIJ! He is from Poland and quite a nice fellow:-)

I can`t really tell, but if it is SONOR, it will have nine lugs top and bottom. Is there another pic ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

It's a 16" OddBall.

Only 16 lugs on those.

The shell will most likely be Beech and 6 or 9 plies.

From El Larry

For a short time Sonor used both types of plastic lugs: the ones with the stripes AND mallets on were 'Swinger', the ones with the stripes only were 'Action'.

I've restored a Swinger kit last year without facing any problems (lugs on/ off the shell, all kept safe).

Lately I've tried the same with an Action kit and almost every lug cracked away at the fixing screw thread, when taking the lugs off ...

Maybe they used different plastic types for the different lug types?

The one in the pic above is an Action floor tom.
