Posting to Russia - help?

Has anyone shipped a kit to Russia? I've had some interest for my olympic kit, and the guy's asking what Russia postage could cost. I can work that out, but it seems that there's loads of paperwork etc. I don't want hassle off him if it gets impounded because I didn't stick a VAT declaration on it or soemthing. Any thoughts?

HI, I HAVE SHIPPED SOME CYMBALS TO RUSSIA, YOU'LL HAVE TO USE THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE CHEAPS WAY TO SHIP AND PROBABLY THE ONLY WAY TO SHIP, THEY USE A CONTRACTOR, YOU'LL HAVE TO FILL OUT THE CUSTOMS USE FORM, FILL IT OUT ACCURATELY, POST IT AS MERCHANDISE NOT AS A GIFT, PUT WHAT IT REALLY IS, AND AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER CHECK IF UNABLE TO DELIVER, RETURN TO ADDRESS, AND LIST THE BUYERS ADDRESS AND NAME AGAIN, AND THAT IS IT, GOOD SALE FOR YOU I HOPE, MARK

Thanks a lot for the input. The guy hasn't bid yet, but if he does, that'll come in handy.

How can you insure a package that is being handled by two different country's postal systems?

You can insure it from the post office you'll need to get a quote from the post office as for what the insurance charge will be, good luck, mark

I asked at the post office here about buying insurance on a package being sent to Europe. They told me they could only insure it while it was in the USA and after it left the states it was on it's own.

So I haven't been shipping outside of the USA because of that.

Yes that is true, as I stated after it leaves the us it is a contractor that is handling the shipping, international shipping Thur UPS OR FEDEX will be out of this world, but i have shipped international very very many times being a ebay seller with no trouble, good luck. mark
