I would like to know how some of you can get these huge beautiful pictures on the forum. I set my camera to "email" size and still have trouble getting then posted. How do you resize them, is there some free software out there?

I know I saw this topic before but cant find it aagin.

Thank you,

Jeff

If you have a Mac, just open the picture with Preview and then go to Tools and select adjust size. You can play with the size of the picture and also stay within the KB requirements for this site.

I think the best way to post pictures here is to use photobucket. If you don't know, photobucket is a free website that lets you store pictures. Once they are uploaded, you use the image tool on this website (it's the one that looks like mountains on the toolbar) to insert the link to the photobucket picture into your post.

So,

1. Create a free photobucket account.

2. Upload pictures

3. For each picture, there will be a set of links. Click the "direct link", and it will be copied to your clipboard.

4. Write a post, then click the image tool. A box will pop up, you need to paste the "direct link" that you just got from photobucket into that box.

Now your full size picture will show up in your post. There is no resizing to be done. Just remember that you did not upload the actual picture to this website, only a link. So if you move or delete the picture from photobucket, it will no longer show up in your post. This may sound confusing, but it's easy once you've done it. PM me if you have questions. Here is how the pictures show up:

Those are great pics !!

Webmaster has asked in the past for us not to post pics in this manner.

As Potsy24 has stated, once a member deletes his photo from PhotoBucket or some other hosting service, the pic disappears from this Forum.

David would like for pics to be posted directly to the threads, so that they remain as a visual piece of reference material for future visitors.

There's a sticky thread about the subject at this link.

Now, Webmaster may not have anyone to assist him currently with fixing threads with pics posted in this manner, or he may have just given up on the idea as I haven't noticed any pics being re-posted as attachments lately.

But the point remains that our pictures are great resources for others who visit the Forum and it would be a shame to lose the info when it's possible to retain it.

I'm not trying to cause any ripples in the pond here, just passing this along.

Thanks

Kev

Just for convenience, here's a copy/paste of the thread.

March 13, 2009 - Linking Off Site

Hello!

I have been working with a member (kevin) here to clean up dead links and photos to Ebay, Cragslist and or Photo Hosting Companies.

So, after some communication and a plan, he is sending me links to posts with the above mentioned links.

Then I take the photo from the source and add it as an attachment, so if the photo moves, or the auction and craigslist ads expire there is a record of it.

Otherwise the post is not much use to visitors further down the line when doing research.

So, if you posted and see my edit, then that is what is going on.

Also, if people are linking to off-site information which is on this site, I'm changing the link to the information here.

Thanks

David

Ok, deleting and cleaning up... Also removing any and all links that are pointing to other locations on the Internet that do not give the answer to a question..

Thanks

David
