Just.... WOW!

Amazing job you did there, and also a very nice snare!

Just a question, how did you handle the very rusty tension rods? I have some of those in the same condition and i`m not sure how to de-rust them without damaging the threads.

Blair - congrats! Wow! I love when people save drums. Can you imagine someone painting that blue over the extreme detail and beauty of these drums?

Thanks a lot EC!

There are actually 2 snares here.....

1 early 20's Ludwig DeLuxe AKA Black Beauty

The other,a early 20's Leedy Elite....basically,their version of a Black Beauty.......

I found these drums 2 doors down from me at a neighbors house! Crazy!

To clean rods,I dipped them in Evapo-Rust,and then polished them with German Simichrome polish.

I prolly put 10-20 hours into the 2 drums!

actually the paint mite of saved the drum as a protective layer as i found out on the acro im restoring nice job. what are they worth now?

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks all.............

Both drums were missing strainers front and back..........

With a few phone calls,I was able to find the close to 90 YO strainer for the Leedy....that was lucky! It's nickel though......oh well..........

I had the 2 butt plates here already, and 1/3 of the strainer for the Blk Beauty.

Mike Curotto sold me repro parts to complete........
