I thought this one would be easy starting with nice but bare shells. Was quite the PIA and labor intensive. I knew it would be costly having to buy all the hardware. And it was. Not a perfect 100% restoration. But nice players kit. Original wrap and no extra holes.

Love em Glenn!

Thank you!

From alot2008

Star Stagelites, many parts from far and wide, Germany, Canada, Melbourne, rewrap to match 14' floor tom. All Star drums except donor drum for 16'' floor tom which is pearl.

That is one cool looking Star kit! Well done.

This was my first attempt at restoring. Granted the items per se are not valuable as a vintage Lud, Rog or Slin, but it has thought me so much that i feel comfortable on taking on any restoration. ( I'm good at wood working and finishing).

Bass drum was an old Collarlock from 1981 and the toms a 1980 TAMA.

With a bit of fantasy and imagination, we can really make something ugly look very pleasant.

The chrome was in ok condition but with a good polishing wheel and some household product they came back alive.[Attachment: 98420]

60's Gretsch Round Badge as I found them, covered in paint. Finish underneath was thrashed so I recovered them in white marine pearl, which has aged nicely. JamminSam as I recall.

Orangemi,

I'm assuming that this green sparkle was a rewrap, correct? If so, good call refinishing the bare wood shells (mahogany or stained maple?). Those look fantastic!

I'm really loving these Before & After pics.

Here's another kit that I recently restored. 1940 Ludwig and Ludwig kit 11/12/16/26 (11 not shown). I can't believe this kit was 100% complete and unmolested. She's a looker now...and I found the matching snare drum about a month later!

Aaron - If I was playing in a Rock-A-Billy band, those would be the drums I would want to play! Beautiful, great save.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
