I've been a member of this forum for almost a year now, but have been somewhat taken back that there's not a lot of history about the pioneers of our instrument, buddy and gene get all the attention, but they aren't the only one's? there are a select few member here that do search out and post this type history but not many, and for those that do I humbly thank yo!! please read the review, all I can say Is I can't wait, I'm a huge "Chick webb" fan!! http://drumz4sale.blogspot.com/2010/08/savoy-king-movie-about-chick-webb-and.html

Mike no sir thank you, I hope I didn't over step my bounds here!! and It's great to have you here with us!
Man, Chick Webb was amazing. What little I've read, he used that monster bass drum and noboby beat him in a drum battle or out swung his band. He deserves a full length feature film ala "Ray".
i wanna see the whole movie!
musta took a lot for Gene to say that..
dang!
I hope they have some details about the custom drum setup he used.
I still want to know where that set is.
For anyone interested in the history of the early drummers and how they understood their music I suggest Burt Koral's "Drummin Men" Volumes I & II.
These are so well done and readable. I have read and re-read them both so many times.
