Possible Ebay scam.....

I have several things that I am preparing to sell on EBay and I know it's going to be a headache.

I am thinking about ways to MAKE people read the terms before they bid. I always requite people to have 10 prior transactions no matter what I sell and when I sell drum stuff, I require at least 20 transactions prior to bidding. I don't want naive newbies bidding on something they don't know about. And I always list that very clearly. And yet, every time, I get a sniper with hardly any transactions. Mostly I reject the bids, but what can I do when they bid at the last second? It screws everything up.

I don't do a lot of business on EBay, anyway, but sometimes I do and it's a dang headache for the most part when you're the seller!

I personally ..am an easy gent and agree with this statement henr..Yes Sir

I don't see the scam element here at all. You don't ship until they send payment so there really isn't any way to get scammed here. They send the money, you send the stand.

Well, that is my reasoning. I refuse to send OUR HERITAGE out of the country. I STRONGLY believe that it SHOULD stay here. Let the Japanese keep their Tama and Pearl stuff over there....you know, the stuff that they FLOODED the market with and pretty much brought the American drum market to its knees? Not once did they contact me BEFORE bidding to state that they were proxy bidding on someone elses behalf from a foreign country. That is just out and out fraud and misrepresentation if you ask me. And the last time I checked, it used to be against ebay's rules. This is as bad as the people from other countries that email and ask to bid as they have a "friend" with a USA address I can ship it to. Sorry, I won't do that either.BTW, this was a sniper bid last couple of hours too! So I had no time to cancel and react to it as I was not at home at the time of the auction's end.

You wouldn't sell to a Canadian? I've sold numerous Vintage USA Drums that were originally sold in Canada to Americans, at great bargain prices too.

I sold an Atlas cymbal stand to a buyer in California, or so I thought, yesterday. Turns out its some kind of overseas purchasing agent. I think its a huge scam, so beware! I've opened a case against the buyer to cancel the transaction as it violates my terms of the sale and have reported it to ebay but have heard nothing from anyone, buyer, ebay, or otherwise. Here's a link to the buyer's profile with all of their OTHER ebay IDs listed! http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=flight2nycSounds fishy and illegal according to ebay's rules if you ask me! I've relisted the item and if I do ever receive payment from this "person" I will immediately refund the $$ as I want nothing to do with any kind of foreign brokers. My auctions state specifically that I will only ship to the USA. I don't want the hassle with customs or foreign buyers anymore, domestic buyers are enough of a pain lately! LOL!Sumo Dude

The only scammers I've seen on ebay is ebay itself! First they get you on the listing fee, then after selling it, wham, they hit you with a sellers fee, then you get a pay-pal fee. I don't use ebay anymore.

Well now thay have an "affiliate" site for Japan bidders it seems. They have someone in the US bid on it for them, you ship to the US and then they ship it to their customer in Japan! Talk about circumventing their own rules! I was credited by ebay for this transaction after I requested to cancel it and am now blocking ALL of the user IDs that they claim are with this affiliate ebay site. The stand had been re-listed and it appears I have a legit US bidder this time.

To each his own, but from an economic standpoint, selling items to buyers outside the country is great for the U.S. balance of trade, and ultimately great for the U.S. economy. I suppose I'd be proud to see my country's products being sought after and prized all over the world.

But that's my take as a Canuck. We don't have much that's prized worldwide, aside from oil, trees, and Rush albums. :) Admittedly, I'm biased, because I love the beautiful vintage American drums that I'm privileged to have with me here in Toronto. For what it's worth, my RBs are stamped internally with the logo of Drummer's Paradise, Queen Street, Toronto -- a store that probably hasn't existed in 50 years. So they must have been shipped straight from the factory to Toronto, where they've lived ever since.

Like I said, to each his own! :2Cents:

sounds like you are just being p!ssy cuz your item didn't sell for what you thought it was worth, so you try to make the buyer the bad guy, then relisted it in the hopes of making afew extra bucks. i really hope u do decide not to sell on ebay anymore, sellers like you are the reason its a pain to deal with.

A pointless statement which will be disregarded by anyone with a sense of decorum.
