Possible Black Beauty Fake???

Hi guys

please check this drum out on feebay UK:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250937116593?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Ive messeged the seller and he says a magnet doesnt stick to the shell. I thought ludwig stopped producing the BB snare during the 30's-70's. Initially i thought this was a nickel plated 400 snare - ie reconditioned from a flakey chrome shell.

What do you think?

That snare isn't even a good fake...it's a rusted 60's Supra that's been sprayed black. The reintroduced desirable mid 70's model had a B/O badge, not a keystone.

Cheers!

Fake to me.

BB snares have been made since the '20s, although not continuously. In the modern era "reissue" production was begun in the '70s.

Painted supra, wrong tone control, strainer doesn't look right/complete, badge was probably added after paint job. Passola... too many problems.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Didn't all the reissue models have the gold scroll work (Suppose I could look it up, but you guys are faster)? I remember the '79 or '80 Ludwig catalog I used to have, had pics of the BB's. I used to drool....
