i'm trying to figure out what the heck this old part might be...

anyone know about this part. the screwed on part may be backwards????

i'd be truly grateful....

It looks like a clamp that would be fixed to the bass. Another arm would be attached to the end with the wing nut to hold a splash cymbal, cowbell, wood block or other something of that nature

yeah, that's what i was thinking too......i just never saw one anything quite like this one though....
