Please help identify this drum!!!

Thanks for helping,

I just bought a Slingerland drum and need help identifying it. I've also been told that it's not a Slingerland drum so I'm just trying to figure out what it is and approximately what it's worth. I bought it off Ebay from some guy trying to pass it off as a Slingerland but I've heard counter-opinions as well. It doesn't have a badge, it's been rewrapped and no serial number, so it may be tough. Despite all this it does have an interesting wood grain interior that may help identify it. Thanks for your help and here are some pics...

That darker wood is almost certainly Walnut. I saw that drum on ebay and spent a while looking at it... struck my curiosity to.

... or maybe it's contact paper on the inside! :)

Not a Guru... just interested..

I know woods well enough to know it's definitely NOT walnut! The grain pattern looks more like oak with a darker stain on it...but the stain color is exactly like that wall paneling color from the 70's.

The inner ply does look like oak and the r-rings and hoops

early 60's Slingerland.

I have that case and it came with an Olympic ( by Premier )

snare kit.

The lugs however, appear very Rogers BB and the throw from

this distance to be a generic replacement.

Is that wood putty in the old pattern of holes? ( pic 2 ) Looks

like it was done after the very Brady staining.

My guesstimate is this was someone's player that was

nicely ( albeit unusually ) restored over time.

How does it sound?

If you like it, U could give an endearing nickname.

ie: "Sling O Matic" or "Marcia"...;)

The hoops seem a tad deep to be Slingers.

Could well be Premier on second thought.

Hope that clouds the ice for 'Ya!

Not to be the barer of bad news, but that looks like an import '60s or '70s snare drum. They can usually be had for 20 or 30 bucks, although, frankly, unless they're in a weird finish, they're probably worth less.

Looks like someone invested some time and effort into this drum...re-wrapping, puttting on a new throw off, and varnishing the interior.

If you like the sound, that's cool, but this drum has nothing to do with a Slingerland, or any quality drum.

I think, if someone sold it to you as a Slingerland, you should send it back...unless, of course, you really like it.

I'd say the value it that of the throw off or a student drum...maybe $30.

On my "hot list" until the price went over $50.00.

It may be blasphemous around here, but you watch these

become the next thing.

Check out the shell quality and funky finish!

Sure would have looked nice next to my Revelle...

Cool
