It wasn't real satisfying, but back in the apartment days I practiced on a Ralph Pace practice set. Wooden frame was somewhat adjustable, with a fine quality live rubber surface for the "drums" and "cymbals".Yes Sir

From vintagemore2000

Many years ago when I lived in an apartment, it was a brand new building, and it was only myself and a neighbor, she got a 52" giant screen, Remember those things, she was watching top gun, It honestly sounded like she and the TV where in my living room. I explained to her the loudness of the TV, it went on for a week so that weekend at 10:00Am I set my gretsch kit 14x26 bass 10x14 tom 16x16 and 16x18" floor toms kit up pointing right in her direction, and I proceeded to give her an hours worth of what she had given me all week, you know I never had a problem with her again, she told me, Well I guess I deserved that! I told her I also play guitar, and I had a Marshall SLP waiting for her??DOH

Thinking about setting up my kit in my apt. I think the people above me have a bowling alley in theirs.

I used to live in a condo with neighbors on 3 sides. I hade a Roland td5k kit at the time. It was cool but nothing makes up for the feel of real drums. It's like one of the previous posters said, you have to get out and play them. Get a rehearsal space. If you are in a band perhaps the band already has a space for that and you can make arrangments to go there a few extra times a week and get to play. This reason is why I moved into a house. I now have a drumroom that I share with my hot wheels collection. Good luck on resolving your issue.

You can always buy a DrumKat- the DK 10 DrumKat usually goes pretty cheap on Ebay. The bonus is that you can add sounds to your live kit when you play in a band. E-drums will kill your dynamics, so get someplace and play your live kit as often as possible.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

i say start a garage band with a real good freind and there u go or someones basement thats it ,other than rental spaces see if there is a clubhouse at ur complex and ask if u can use it once in a while

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I have a set of HQ Soundoff pads that worked well for me. It's not like playing on a real kit, but it will keep you practicing.

That and a practice pad, but you'll prob want to find a practice space as well...

I've gotten the next door neighbor to come over and complain both when playing my Ludwigs (along with my friend playing my then-amp a Fender Super Six Reverb amp with his guitar) and a couple of times with a Marshall 25th anniversary head. Kinda sad actually because that Marshall had a very fine tone.
