i have a late 50's, early 60's,wooden shell rogers snare, and 22" bass in a red plaid wrap. the snare is a holiday model, and the bass is as yet unidentified, but purchased at the same time. has anyone seen this plaid before, or know anything about it? condition, good to excellent on the snare, good on the bass. serial number on the snare 20919, cleveland. any guess as to it's value?

Scotch Plaid is what that particular wrap is called... and it comes up every once and a while. It was kind of a limited run wrap that Rogers did back in '58. According to Rob Cook's research, this wrap was made specifically by Rogers for a school band called Carnegie Tech. It seems that the schools band was outfitted in a Scottish manner, so Rogers was requested to make a plaid type finish for the drum section. The result is the Scotch Plaid that you have on your two drums. I believe the finish was only available for a couple of years, thus, it is kind of rare... but amazingly, not that highly sought after.

You should have Bread & Butter lugs on those drums, yes? Some pics would be nice if possible too! It would be easier to get a bead on what shape/condition your drums are in as well.
