Picked up a BDP JazzFest

Loading...

I've been looking for a decent price on a Jazz Fest to match my BDP kit. Finally won this today with a snipe bid (paid just over $200). Seems like every other one I've seen is double this price or more. Color appears to be dark and very close to my set. Delivery to me from California pending....

Such a highly sought after instrument and you scored it at a great price. A JazzFest is on my bucket-list for sure.

Congrats... hope the transaction goes smoothly!

I was looking for a mid-'60s BDP JF as well, and I finally found one in near mint condition. I don't remember how much I paid, but I paid a lot more than you did, and yours looks just as good as mine.

Congratulations on scoring such a great-sounding drum.

Wow... just over $200?! You got a bargain my friend!

The strainer appears to be the early WFL P-83. Can't tell if the badge is WFL, too. However, my gut says that this may be a very late 50's Barrett Deems snare drum. Technically, it is a Jazz Festival, but not yet named that. Is the shell closer to 5.5" depth? That may help determine what it is. Ludwig was still using up the stock of 5.5" shell when making the Jazz Festival, as evidenced by Ringo's JF snare drum.

Regardless, you scored with this drum. Hope you can post more pictures!

Good eye! It is a WFL P83 and badge.

So is it a Pre-JazzFest?

Here's the link - depth unknown, waiting for delivery.

Nice score! You will love it. My Jazz Fest is among the best sounding snare drums I've ever owned.

Congrats!
