Picked this up at my local antique store Last viewed: 21 hours ago

Went to my local antique store during my lunch break and found a Wilson Bros. snare drum and I brought it home with me! It's 3 1/4 x 13 and has Joe Rogers Jr. calf heads on it yet in perfect condition (no tears). I know Wilson Brothers produced drums from roughly 1915-1928 and were based in Chicago but that's about it. Anyone willing to throw-out an educated guess on value for this little gem?

Thanks!

$100. to $125. These old-timers are more for display, than to play. As old as they are, they just don't command much $ in the marketplace.

That's a nice, clean example though and it's original and complete. Display it in your home! Great old antique.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

You mean how much you paid for it? I'm with Purdie at $100-125.

The paper tag is worth the price of admission - nice!

Thanks for the great feedback guys! As it turns out, the matching bass drum is also available. I'm assuming it's in the same condition or close to it. Would it be worth as much as the snare? I guess I don't know what to offer for it. I would ultimately display it as Purdie suggested.

According to Google Maps, here's your drum's birthplace on May Street. Wonderful history in these drums which are more antique than vintage, even though they're more "displayers" than "players".
