Piccolo Snare

Loading...

sorry I don't have a pic yet, but what are the possible manufacturers (other than ddrum) of a piccolo snare with fat, round lugs? It's old, but I don't know how old, and other than that, I don't have a clue. Does anybody have a guess as to what brand it MIGHT be?

Round lugs could mean DW, Camco, or Hayman, but all of those would be clearly marked as such. So I'm guessing maybe something Made in Japan or Taiwan. Really need pics.

Could also be Geo. Way but I'm not up on whether or not they made piccolos.

Yep, I forgot Geo. Way (and I've got two of them). Still, it should have a badge saying so. I don't know if they made a piccolo or not, but Camco did. I never saw it in a catalog, but there was one on ebay several months back.

Good call.

I think that relayer may have a valid point. I have a mid-seventies "knockoff" of a Tama piccolo. It has no badge but, the rest of the drum is almost identical to the real deal. Of course, like many other drums today, it was made in Taiwan. With proper tuning and good heads, it sounds pretty fair. I also have an "authentic" Tama piccolo from the nineties...also made in Taiwan. Is nothing made in America anymore?!

My blind guess is DIXON.

That was going to be my contribution also.

I remember Spitzers Music had them for about $100 a couple decades ago.

I was whacking on one to see if it was worth $100 to me.

Some guy came around from the other side of a room divider and told me to knock it off because he was giving a lesson on the other side of the divider.

If it was his intention to have me never go there again he got his wish.
