Piccolo Question Driving Me Bonkers!

I’ve seen the issue on both drums. Just a bad lug design. Both ends are being pulled on and it begins to twist.

You could always install single offset lugs.

From O-Lugs

Well, with the Ludwig Downbeat, it was clearly an issue with the "push/pull" orientation of the lug screws, on the thin shell...the holes became oval in no time. But with the Tama, I have no idea other than to guess it was a casting miscalculation. If this angle is consistent on all the lugs, then it would appear that someone's abacus wasn't calibrated.

O-Lugs educated explanation makes the most sense to me!! The abacus only needed to be off by one bead!!

Hey, Mark!

Yes, I tend to agree with O-lugs explanation. The lugs fit tightly, the holes are perfect. The t-rods fit fine and the drum has been played for nearly twenty-five years with no issues. It sounds great! I am now wondering how this slight deviation was not detected at the factory! Oops! sorry, guys. I'll just drop it. Thanks everyone for weighing in!
