I started researching phenolic shells and within a few months two sets pop up that need restoration. I cleaned and assembled the first set adding the snare from the 2nd set just to see what they sound like. Suprising. They tune easily and are light as a feather. And loud! The whole set in the photo, including stands, weighs 61 pounds.
The second photo shows a close-up of the bass drum which has been modified by the Acme Whackme Drum Co. I have marked what I believe to be original holes. The drum originally had a 1969 Gold Oyster Pearl wrap. I sure would appreciate input from the drum gurus regarding the holes. Thanks again.
BTW. Hat tip to jccabinets, billnvick and Mikey777 for their help in identifying these drums.
