Pearl made the kits in the 70,s but did they offer matching snare drums for them?...If not, I wonder why?
Pearl wood fiberglass snare
Well, don't know if they made any, but a few years ago I bought a wood-fiberglass kit second hand. It came with a pearl snare (I suppose it was sold with that one back in the day), but that snare was steel on wood. Never saw anything like that, but it also did not sound very good ...
The wood-fiberglass is still my main gigging kit for the moment, really very nice drums for playing blues and rock!
70s W/FG sets came with COB snares. The last version of W/FG in the early 80s had all maple shells with a liner and a snare was offered.
Actually the 70's wood fibreglass kits had a mix of COB or COS snares. Depending on the packaged kit... The Jupiter snare came with a comprehensive range of options, shell depth, lug qty, and the shell material.
Cheers

Ever played one of the W/FG over maple? Opinions? (You being the winner of a 'name that snare' contest I'd love to know what your golden ears think. :D)
