Pearl Valencia "Blue Sparkle" Rewrap??

Loading...

Hi Guys.

Hope that someone can help me. I bought a really cool early '60s Pearl Valencia 3 piece set in Blue Sparkle. It had no floor tom, but I actually found a '63 Pearl Valencia Floor tom in WMP locally, so I snatched it up.

So, natch, I'd like to recover the Floor tom to match the rest of the set. Problem is, the "Blue Sparkle" isnt really Blue Sparkle...its much Darker than "normal" blue sparkle.

Does anyone know what wrap I can get that matches the old Pearl blue sparkle the closest? It doesnt have to be "exact" because in a club, no one will know as long as its close.

Any ideas? All comments are appreciated.

I might be willing trade you one, it's not a Valencia, but it is blue sparkle 3 ply w/rerings. I am thinking I want a 14 to go with my WMP kit. Think about for a minute. I may, but I still have to see what you got.

Either that or I have a piece of wrap from the early 3 ply era that is a Pearl wrap, and would trade that for the WMP wrap if that would be more suitable. Actually, I might prefer that. The wrap is off a 16, so the lug matching would not have to be exact as the lug holes may well be out of the range. Shoot me your address and pay for the shipping and you can have it. I can tell you it is not perfect, but getting it there and letting you get an idea before taking the wrap off the other shell is going to be the better option, IMO.

Well, I think I may have found something that matches fairly well:

The "Midnight Glitter" on this page: http://www.thisolddrum.com/finishes.htm

Its darker than normal Blue sparkle, like the Valencia is, and has a bit of torquise in it. Its not perfect, but I think it will get me by.

Any of you guys who have the old 1960s Pearl blue sparkle drums, what do you think? close enough?

thanks.

Can I have the WMP when you get it off? I am waiting on another 14 FT to deliver, so I would love to have that to go with my kit. That looks about right, color-wise.

Jon, I actually am going to re-use the WMP. I have an old shell that I want to recover with it for my cocktail set.
