The dreaded Pearl Tom Mount with it's sizable hole.
"Careful with that Drill Eugene"
1 3/8" hole for these mounts.
FG patching is never perfect.
"What size drill bit you gonna use there?
Light and angle sometimes help.

Yikes, put that big a$$ drill bit down! DOH
Nice patch job Scott.Cool1
Real nice patch job. I like the spun look it has to match the shell. I'm sure that was not easy! And yes those dang Pearl mount holes are huge. Good thing Eugene didn't use a axe! :D
Scott - did you have to mount the shell on one of Jerry's moulds/mandrills to do the patch job? How did you get it so perfect?????
John
I have been trying different ways to fill voids in FG for years now.
Always with the hope that one day I can make the voids completely disappear.
Well, it is not gonna happen for me anytime soon.
You drill a hole in your shell?............you better put a bolt or an eyelet in there to fill it up.
This patch was done with a piece of a donor shell scrap, that Jerry gave me years ago.
Just careful shaping with sandpaper till it fit.
Embedded in shell with a strong, foul smelling chemical mix.
(I actually like the smells):D
Because it smells like "We're Makin' Drums" JJ.
