Pearl snare

Loading...

Hey there timekeepers. As you can see from my name, I am not a drummer :P I'm actually a guitarist (go easy), but I've just had an old pearl snare handed down to me from my Grandfather and I'm interested to find out the year and value.

The shell in perfect condition and I'm pretty sure it's even the original head.

If anyone could give me some idea It'd be greatly appreciated. I can upload more pics if need be.

Thanks guys.

It is a 60s snare. Looks to be a very nice wood snare, and a cool pearl wrap. Let's see the strainer mechanism. That would give us a better time line. I personally would hit it at 60-75. That's just me. Don't take it wrong, but there so many Pearl stencil kits on the market that these are taking a hit on value. still a very nice drum. :2Cents:

Made in Japan by Pearl Drum Company in the 60's. Yeah its a nice funky snare, 6 lugs, in light blue marine pearl. Would be a luaun shell. Which was a tree common to that region back then, has now been overused and supply is dwindling in that region.

There's some catalogues of older Pearl drums here: http://www.drumarchive.com/Pearl/

A great old snare. No doubt somewhere out there there might be a kit missing that snare!
