Pearl Snare ID

Hey all! Still the newbie here with yet another question...

I've got this Pearl snare. It was purchased by me in the early 90's at a pawn shop. It appears to be in decent shape (albeit a bit dirty from sitting around unused for the last 15 odd years).

Can anyone tell me what it is? More importantly what it's worth. I'm saving up for purchasing all the hardware needed for my Gretsch restore. I also have a Perl Wild 300 cymbal. I doubt that's worth much. Maybe $50 if I'm lucky.

Here's a pic of the snare

Thanks!

C.O.B.?

Eh?

Case of Beer?

Cranky Old Bastard?

Crew-Overboard?

:)

I think it's ten lugs. I'm not sure about the magnet.

COB stands for chrome over brass, or a brass shell with chrome plating. The other common possibility is COS, or chrome over steel. A magnet can be used to tell them apart. If a magnet sticks to the shell, it's COS. If it doesn't, it's COB (which is generally more desirable).

Thanks! I check the Brass or Steel thing tonight.

I just looked up the 1975 Perl Catalog and saw it in there. I honestly wasn't expecting this to be an older snare.

Here's a link I found http://www.pearldrummersforum.com/showthread.php?223845-Identify-this-old-Pearl-Snare

The strainer handle is broken

Any clue were I can find a replacement? And now the tacky question:

What do you think it's worth? I want to clean it up of course. Again I'm not planning on keeping any of my drums but I would like to get the Gretsch RB set looking pretty again before I let go of them. To do that I need parts, to get parts I need cash....

I have a very similar one that I got for 30$ on Ebay last year. I then cleaned her up nicely and put on die cast hoops- this one has a steel shell and is not a COB. It's a great sounding drum for the money- still has the internal muffle too. The strainer is the same as yours so I would date your drum from '75-'80 based on the catalogs. I wouldn't expect more than 50$ for her even cleaned up- better to keep her and get many times that price in playing her often.
