Pearl Snare drum

Loading...

Yesterday I was purchasing the Rogers drums from my friend. He showed me this Pearl snare drum that came with the Rogers drums. He is keeping it for himself. It will clean up like new. I thought it was a cool drums so searched Ebay completed listings. They sold for between 100 and 140. Was just wondering if anyone had any info or comments that I can share with my friend.

Thanks! Jeff C

Jeff,

Newer Pearl (1990s to present) isn't my thing, but if I'm not mistaken they've offered that drum (or at least a variation of it) for 15-20 years and it is still available new. From what I've heard, it's a good sounding drum. It will never have the value of a Ludwig Supra, but none-the-less a very good drum!

Fish, how YOU been? Get the remodeling done?

Doing fine here... just keeping very busy at work and with the drums. Also, got a wedding in Wisconsin coming up first weekend in November (nephew), then our youngest son is getting married in Lawrence (Ks) December 1. So, things aren't getting any easier, either.

And... I've got a couple of remodeling projects to get started on, too...

Do it yourselfer remodelers, you guys scare me. Just kidding, well sort of. We spent a great deal of time making fun of homeowners carpentry skills. But some of them are actually pretty good and since you guys are drummers we will put you in the pretty good section, lol.

Bill you should see the shells Monday or so.

Bill! Hey, been great!

The remodeling: Well, the interior of the house has gone from something you'd find in rural Afghanistan to maybe upscale rural Bolivia. So we're still kind of third world. We're having a heck of a time getting glass tile that isn't defective.

Jeff: My carpentry skills are only as good as my chain saw...

Well I hope you at least have a sharp chain on it!

I like mine a lot. It is very sensitive at all volumes, and sounds like a canon going off when you really lay into it. At my small church, sadly, I can only play it now and again, relying more on my Acrolite and new 1963 Star wood snare. The Sensitone is also much heavier than I thought it would be when I finally bought one, which surprised me as I thought the weight would effect sensitivity, especially with the heavy hoops on it. It is much brighter sounding than my vintage Supra (which I gave to our sound man - and also my best friend - to trade for an audio rack), but just as sensitive with a more explosive attack for some odd reason. They clean up beautifully too. Well worth the money I thought.
