Pearl President Set

Loading...

Hey everyone. I just picked up this Pearl President set for $50. I dont know anything about them, but for that price i couldnt just leave them. From doing a little research i learned that they do have the chocolate brown fiberglass shell. Everything is here except that missing tom. Any idea on year? Its got a 20" base drum, 12" tom and 16" floor tom. Thanks

For fiddy, you done good! Too bad the snare and other tom are missing, but this would be a later year, just by the wrap color, as it seems to me this wrap is from the era toward the end of the run for Presidents, 75-76ish.

I agree completely with Jonni on the dating on this one pretty much- but that wrap looks even more early 80s though doesn`t it? Those mid 70`s wraps were so often those shiny metalic papers- silver or blue, or white or black gloss, this is the first time I can remember seeing maroon gloss that early. Those tom pipes put it before the dawn of the modern mount pipe era (which has lasted 30 years)- Anyway, I would even goes as late as the very late 70s on this. That little diameter circular cymbal mount on the top of the bass has got to be an after-market job Pearl never used those. Cleaned up you`ve got about 200-250$ there and nice sounding drums to boot.Welcome

After taking the heads off it's definitely been recovered. Stripped screws inside and bad cuts on the edges. But the shell themselves are in great shape. I wondered what that little attachment was for on the base drum. Id like to find a tom and rewrap the set. I basically got it to practice with as my entire set is at our church and im tired of set uo tear down. Im impressed with the wrap jos tho. They managed to keep all the badges and hardware.

I was about to say, maybe they have been re-wrapped, because O'bop is right, that wrap is much later then they built Prez kits.
