Pearl Kit number 2.

Loading...

So at the local mom and pop. Sure enough there is the hoop need for the blue kit. $40 later I have fake white crocodile wrap 22/16/13/12. Interesting the 13 and 22 have stamped brass Pearl badge. 12 and 16 have silk screened brass. Both types attached with two nails. No sign of nail holes on the blue kit. I count 6 ply correct?

Blue kit gets the mufflers, rubber bass feet and hoop. I have a mint complete tom rack. Just for grins checked the lug attaching screw spacing against Slingerland small beavertail match the toms. Large BT are close to the Pearl bass. Pics attached.

Thanks!

It would be interesting to find some 60's Pearl lugs which did look like Sound Kings and install those on the BD.

Wow $40 for those??? Too cool. Kind of a neat looking wrap on them. Whats the plan?

Bunch of cig smoke on these. Scrubbing Bubbles, scrub with nylon brush, rinse, dry. Windex same, repeat. This is after three rounds. One more then Novus and wax.

Kit is in great shape except for the two wrap issues. Just going to chase down the missing bits and put it back to as was.

You 've been bitten by the lauan bug!

Interesting tom mounting hardware. Never seen that before.

The wrap on those is called "Naugahyde" lots of Pearl and Maxwin kits with it... Came in around half a dozen colours.. quite a few earlier threads on here about it...

Thanks for the thread. Blue kit loaned some parts. Pics of it kinda put together. One day it will get a complete teardown.

The first kit i ever played on was an early 70's Westbury with that wrap, only mine was red.. It was a cool little kit, and constructed way better than today's Westbury kits..
