A while ago I bought a 70s Pearl Crystal Beat kit that I've restored and have been using as my live kit. The kit came with an old Tama Swingstar snare that I sold and I thought I'd keep an eye out for the original Jupiter snare to complete the kit. This one showed up locally and was only about $100usd so I grabbed it. I finally got around to cleaning it up over the weekend. Dismantling these parallel systems and cleaning them is a bit of a mission but it's done now and ready to play. Whether I actually play it is yet to be seen. First impressions of the sound are good but I find I just don't gig with snares with parallel strainers as I worry something will fall apart mid gig. I tend to just use my trusty 1970 Acrolite. I do love a complete kit though.

Looks very cool - and a good job you did with the cleaning :) I guess the only way to find out is to use it?? Maybe have a 2nd snare somewhere, just to be on the safe side??

Ah yes, but as I get older I'm trying to get away with carrying less gear not more:) I will drag it into the studio though
