Pearl Jupiter Parallel Strainer Repair or Replace?

Do the 2 levers in you pic just need to be connected? Looking at your "good" pic looks like your missing piece is the bar with bend in it and connects the 2? Like a narrow length of flat stock with a curved bent to allow the top arm to pivot. I've never had one of these and not sure if I'm missing something else so!! Once you figure what you need find the local machine shop. Should be super easy to make. And you'll preserve the strainer as original. This should keep it playing until you came across some parts. hope it's a easy fix.

Cheers, Glenn. I'm starting to think that having the missing piece fabricated it's the only way to go. I'll look into it in the new year I suppose, unless someone come along and buys the drum as is. I don't know if I want to put any more cash into it. It needs wires too and some new heads. I would say about another 100 bucks to get it up to code. It's probably worth saving though. I'll let you know what happens with this snare. I'm going to make sure it gets restored.

Hope you can get it sorted. I hear you on the cash end of things. Sometimes I just stop counting. I don't usually sell anything so in time the hurt on my wallet gets absorbed by throwing more money at a new project. :) It's a cool snare for sure! Good luck!

I'm always buying and selling drums. I like a brass snare and I've had many come and go over the years, but only one I truly regret selling to this day which was a Ludwig Super 400. I bought at at a Supraphonic price because the seller thought it was a common Supraphonic and I almost doubled my cash when I sold it, but I should have kept that one for myself as I was very lucky to get it so cheap. I think the Jupiter should sound great and it's killing me that I can't play this thing. I will definitely try to get it up and running over the next few weeks so watch this space. In future when I come across a great snare I'll be sure to keep it for myself. :)
