Great looking kit!!

bbk: I am nearly finished restoring a kit exactly like that. I'll post pictures in this thread as soon as it's finished.

I bought the kit to re-sell, to flip, and unfortunately for me, was successful as it sold before I got it unloaded and into my garage. The unfortunate for me part is, having never owned or played one of these, I wasn't aware of just how cool they look and neat they sound! I would have kept it!

Yes, the flat finish makes them look nice. Mine is a 5-footer, there's some scratches, but not as bad as it was before Novus and detailing them.

Secondly, fiberglass does resonate quite well and this kit booms. 24" bass drum with only the mounted muffle on the outside and a piece of felt on batter make the drum sing. Toms with coated Emps for batter and smooth white Ambassador or equivelant for resonant. The snare is a newer Tempus drum. I wanted to have a FG snare to go with it and one that looked like metal in a size that I didn't have. 5.5 x 14 and it is a great drum.

Great looking set. Brought me some smiles. I have been playing a 1972 Pearl Artist F1-S WMP since I got it in 1975. I gigged it for nearly 30 years in a Beatles/oldies cover band. Jupiter snare COB always has THE sound, and the fiberglass toms have awesome projection which always helped in those venues where it was too small to mike. As a gigging drummer I was glad not having to worry about weather/storage like I might fret with wood shells.

Perfectly tuned, these babies can sing with the best of them!

Well, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but most of you know me... these shells are the BEST! Pearl really had it going, and I'm not sure why they discontinued them nearly 30 years ago!

And Fish, I've got wide shoulders... :)

This was my FIRST reproduction set using Pearl's FG shells, I've done another since (same drum configuration, but with tangerine glass), and have another lined up to do in August. That one's a Buddy Rich reproduction (slingerland hardware and specs) in WMP. Somewhere in the Ringo thread is a picture of the BR SD shell, which I did a couple months back.

I gig always on my f/g kit, came with a cob snare.I just love how fat this kit sounds, sound guys soon get an insight into vintage drums and love how they sound and the shells are translucent so look good under lights.I now actively look for these drums.I payed $50 for my kit but don,t think I will be so lucky next time.

Here's the kit, all cleaned up. It includes a Pearl knockoff (Excell?) snare for the kid getting the kit. I goofed off with the kit for a moment or two... wow. Those things sing LOUD!

Standard sizes: 22, 12, 13, 16.
