just got these guys up and going, great brutal little player, cob snare really cuts through, toms with coated heads nice amount of tone, sustain and projection, punchy kick but could be fatter? kit number four for me, put together with gear collected along the way. obviously not restored but now i am satisfied with how they play i might detail a bit more. guitar2
pearl f/glass
Sweet! These are the same as my first "real" drum set, my first was a Royce. The shells went through three different rewraps. The fiberglass lasts forever! Still have 3 drums from what was a six piece set. Going through a paint job right now; I didn't realize how necessary it was to fill in all of the little pinholes in fiberglass surfaces.
They look great! My first "real" set was also a set of the Pearl Fiberglass drums....still have it - although it's a mess but certainly not beyond restoration. Mine was a 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 22 set; believe it or not I got the whole set & a full compliment of Zildjians (all from the '70's) for $155.00 from Manny's in NYC. That was in 2002... I couldn't believe they would let them go for that price but because they really didn't sell used stuff and they were pretty dirty & unattractive they just wanted them off the floor, I think they got them on a trade-in for almost nothing themselves...
Great drums...I've always loved them. :)

i got these by swapping a newish low end entry level kit i paid $50 for because they where complete and playable, all i knew i was getting some some older pearl drums, i did'nt know until i picked them that they where a f/glass kit with a 10 lug cob snare. its this sort of thing that keeps interest in collecting this gear, got my c20 yamahas in a similar way.

What a great deal!!! Those '70's Pearl COB snares are great...I have 2 myself (one regular and one parallel strainer) you got a great set there! Sounds like the snare alone would've been worth the trade :)
Enjoy!!!!
