Heard a Jupiter with the SS type strainer. Liked it.

Got this one with the standard strainer.

Still tuning it up.

Big Sound. Rock Snare. so far.

I was wondering if anyone was interested in these types of shells.

My second kit came with one of those though a standard chrome shell. No idea what the actual metal was. It was a nice drum. Loaned it to a friend. A week later their band trailer was stolen and that was the end if that snare for me.

Did the snare come that way, or did you have it re-plated / chrome 'blasted'?

Other than a bunch of the cheap cruddy Pearl snares, I've owned two quality Pearl snares. The first was a 6 (or 7, can't remember) X 14 heavy COS with very heavy cast rims. I traded it to a fellow that had the drum set it was designed / sold with. The second I still own. It was a 4 X 14 basket case, copper 'Free Float' that I rebuilt back to factory spec's. I still have it, it's an excellent snare.

I've never seen a snare by Pearl like this one... of course there's a lot of things I haven't seen!

I like it.

It came to me COB.

I had it stripped and polished by my local guy.

Did not cost very much to have it stripped.
