The bass drum I'm restoring has 2 small extra holes, partly underneath the rail. I'd like to patch them if possible, using the method I read on this site - drilling the holes out a little to fit a small dowel, then filling the holes not quite flush. After that, I'll need some wrap. The wrap on the kit is rather faded. The suggestion to use wrap from under a lug worries me because:

a) it's a totally different colour

b) I am worried about getting it off.

So I have been thinking about cutting two tiny pieces off the inlays. I know this means a gap but it would be hidden by the claws.

What would you do? I am in Australia and have little chance of finding a piece of sky blue pearl wrap . . . Thanks for your time.
