Paiste black label 505 nos score

Hey there vintage Paiste brothers. Just thought i'd share my newly acquired, absolutely mint, vintage black label Paiste 505 18"medium crash. She sounds as good as she looks, and after i compared it with my Giant Beat 18" multi, they are extremely similar in terms of sustain, tone, and wash..The 505 is slightly darker than the Giant Beat and i personally think it sounds better.. I would also compare her to a Formula 602 thin crash or a 2002 "crash"..

Totally underrated cymbal line from Paiste.. Aesthetically the cymbal's in perfect condition, as you can tell by the pic., with ink stamps visibly perfect.. No serial number, as i assume there were none back then..This cymbal probably dates back to around 74-78, as the gentleman i bought it from says it was brand new when it came with his first drum kit when he was in his early teens..This makes sense because the gentleman looks to be about in his late 40's ..

He says it was used the first few months from the date of purchase and was then stashed away until recently..It sat in a cymbal case for about 3 and half decades give or take, which explains the mint condition it is in.. Chicago Drum Exchange had released some vintage Paiste NOS cymbals from the Paiste vault in Switzerland and this cymbal was one of the cymbals they had..It was priced at a little over $200..I got this one for $70 Cdn.. Not a bad deal..They seem to be going for around that price, but you don't find too many in this condition..I can't wait to give this old girl a whirl during my next recording session.. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.. :D

That is a beauty! Love the old vintage 505s!

Also, a cheer for that cymbal bag! (some cymbals don't survive the decades in the bag too well)

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Black Label 505s were around from 1978 to early 1981

The 1974 date start date for this line is one of the common Paiste historical errors that are unfortunately all over the internet.

404 and 505 replaced Dixie and Stambul respectively as the lower B8 Paiste lines in 1978. I have the old Paiste catalogs that prove this is the case. I also have the original price sheet for 404 and 505 which I got from an ex-Paiste employee and it is dated 1978.
