Paiste 602 Thin Crash value

I cracked my 18" Paiste 602 Thin Crash (Blue Label). No, I don't hit hard. 602's can be cracked though. This is rather ironically as a result of wearing earplugs, to preserve my poor ears. It was a second hand cymbal, so it may have had some unseen damage before. I am waiting on some in-ear monitors, which will certainly help the dynamics. And also pulled out my trusty 3000 thin crash, which seems indestructible.

My question: what is a blue label (80's) Paiste 602 Thin Crash worth? I could buy a new one for about $300 + shipping. However, I want a blue label and honestly they are not plentiful at the moment. Might have a shot at one though and don't know what to offer . . .

Why does it have top be another blue label 602?

After this one failed on you why would you buy exactly the same cymbal for another $300 just to risk having it happen all over again. That sounds too much like throwing good money after bad.

Do yourself a favor next time and get a cymbal made from cast B-20. Sheet bronze is structurally inferior to cast.

Maybe because the 602s sound so great?

K's like any other cymbals could be cracked.

But Paiste 602's were notorious for it.

True,,,they can all cracked, Have you heard of UFIP being more prone to cracking vs, Turkish style cymbals? Just wondering. I was told it was a hot topic on Italian forums.

No I haven't, but because of the roto-casting technique they use it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

I've cracked 2 in 35 years and for 25 years I played well over a hundred gigs a year. I don't like Zildjians; or UFIPs for that matter; I've traded a mountain of them. I like Paiste cymbals and blue 602's in particular. Any 1300 gram B20 crash is a risk for me live. I'll just play a thicker cymbal live but I need my set back together.

Wish I had that collection.....

I,too like Blue Letter 602's.....

I was playing at a local park one time when the wind came up,and knocked over a Prem Lokfast stand with a 16" Paperthin on it,and all I could do was watch it topple over in seemingly slow motion....putting a 2-3" long split in it:(

That was painful to see...and expensive!

I stated using Ludwig Atlas stands after that....

Trout...you need to get some Heavy Bell cymbals...those are cool too!
