Paiste 24" Giant Beat White Label

Loading...

Hey guys.

Just picked up this bad boy today. I am not a cymbal expert but it looks to be a white label pre serial number Giant Beat.

It has plenty of patina but is in great shape for its age. If you hold it just right, you can make out Giant Beat. I'm guessing it is a white label but I'm not positive. It has one chip on the edge and some light scratches through the patina on the edge of the underside. No keyhole and it lays nice and flat.

On my kitchen scale, it looks to weigh about 3,100 grams but that could be slightly off as I'm trying to hold it steady on it's edge to be able to read the weight.

Any idea of the potential year and value? I tried looking on eBay but did not see any.

I plan to use this cymbal but do not want to wear away any more of the Giant Beat label. Any suggestions on how to protect that label besides the obvious one of not cleaning it?

Maybe tape something over it or cover with a large bandage? I really do not care about looks if it protects the label.

Thanks,

Wes

Don't clean it !,

I have 4 original 60s "white font/label/logo" Paiste Giant beats:15" hats, 18&20&24" crash/rides multis,

ALL (except the hats) have the Giant Beat font/label/logo intact,

I have NO plans to clean any of them,

Just enjoy the patina&sound! :),

Btw what's the weight?&how much $ did you pay for it&where did it come from?

Yep. I do not plan on cleaning it. I'm just looking o protect what is left of the label.

The cymbal is 3,100 grams and I picked it up for 100 bucks.

Any idea of the value? I tried looking on eBay for completed auctions but wasn't able to find how to do that. I can't find any for sale. Just old Reverb listings that have been sold.

Ebay has one that sold for $650 on Mar 21.

The ding on the side would lessen the value, but that's a highly sought-after cymbal. I believe that's the same cymbal that Bonham used.

To search sold items on ebay; click on 'advanced' button on the far right corner (next to the 'search' button). type in 'paiste 24 giant beat'; below the 'search' button click on 'sold listings', then click on search.

They usually fetch "sell" for $1K + depending on condition of course the 71's ('black font/label/logo) are the "holy grail" most collectable&rarest&scarecest of ALL Paiste Giant Beats!, I've got a '73 Paiste original black font/label/logo 24" Giant Beat!.
