Paiste 15" Giant Beat hi hats

Hi Folks,

I love playing 15" hi hats and for a while now I've been looking for a light pair of hats to play in a more acoustic type of setting. Yesterday I bumped into these and had to have em.

Absolutely beautiful sounding cymbals.

I'm not very knowledgeable on early Paiste Giant Beat cymbals but these must be pre serials. The ink is practically all gone but they're in amazing condition with not a scratch on them. Their weight is 899 top and 924 bottom.

On the web and Youtube, there's quite a lot to be found on the early 24" and 18" Giant Beats but very little on the hi hats.

Please let me know what you think.

I'd love to know who played them and how collectable they are.

Thanks

Stef

I don't know much about these but I know where to look.

Yes those look to be the preserial ones (3 o'clock location of pressed in trademark)

And I guess they will be just the "Hi Hat" model given the age:

although the weight of your bottom might be at the lighter end of the distribution.

Enjoy them.

The links you posted are for 2002's but I found the correct ones.

Compared to the other 15" Giant Beat hats, mine are indeed very light.

Nice find.. Original Giant Beats are extremely scarce these days LET ALONE 15''s, and are expensive..

It's not too often you run into hi hats that Bonham used on the first Zeppelin record..

I had a pair of reissues that i sold like a moron.. I now have a set of 15" blue lable formula 602's that i will never sell.. The perfect hi hats for recording and for just about any style of music you can play.. Congrats on your find !Cool1
