Painted Vistalites...help!

Loading...

Hey everyone,

My father bought a set of vistalites that had been completely painted red. He knew they were pattern A, and hoped they were some crazy custom order. Well, they turned out to be of the Tequila Sunrise type (still great drums).

He's been having a heck of a time removing the paint. Apparently it's super thick..he's tried Goof Off, automobile brake fluid, the works. He's resorted to hand sanding, but that's taking a while.

I told him I'd shoot a picture up here and see if anyone had any great suggestions!

Thanks in advance everyone!

If it's latex paint on there use Dr. Mostenboker's Lift Off 5. I had the same problem with a Vistalite that was blue and painted black. The problem with many paint removers is that they are designed to strip acrylic paint and would therefore damage the Vista shells. Took a few applications with a saturated Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

I've done it on a whole kit it has no affect on the acrylic. This kit was painted black on the inside. I've also used it on a Fibes acylic shell no affect.
