oyster blue pearl ludwigs without serial numbers

Loading...

Appear to be stamped 1958 in red ink on inside...However...The Oyster Pearl finishes weren't produced until 1960? true? Could this have been factory built pre 1960? Do also have photographic evidence of them being played in the uk 1961 (newspaper clipping so date ok) but appears that they were only sold in uk after 1962...all very confusing. Can anyone shed any light??? HELP!! I need somebody's help!

I'm not a Ludwig expert, but '58-60 Ludwigs would have a mahogany interior and earlier style mufflers.

The white shells and bat mufflers indicate a date closer to '68.

Are there serial #s on the badges?

The floor tom badge in the middle indicates no later than -65, red felt pads indicates -64 or earlier and it looks like the floor tom is equipped with the P-1672 bracket that was introduced -61 and replaced in -62.

My guess is that the kit was stamped in NOV 1960 and finally assembled closer to -61.
