I work with wood for a living, here is my thoughts on warped shells, they did not go out of round over nite, this happened over a period of time, maybe the makeup of the wood caused it, or it was forced out of round? point is it happened over a period of time, and pileing weight or pulling with clamps will not correct it over nite, it may for a time but it will want to return to its relaxed shape.

I think you need to add heat or steam to relax the wood enough to take on a new shape.
