Out of round while cleaning?

Loading...

Hi,

I am going to start cleaning my 70 DownBeat kit, and I was wondering about drums going "out of round". As a guitarist, hadn't really heard of that before.

I am a bit busy, and so I decided to take some time doing each piece. I'd like to take up to a week with no hardware or skins etc installed per shell. I assume it won't happen in a week, correct?

Thanks.

Clean away bro... no worries. Shells go out of round over time. Takes a long while.

^^^ What he said.

It took me about a month to get mine all clean and back together.

Now, if you were soaking them in water for a week or two, that might not keep them round.Kleening

lol, thanks guys. Might set up a crappy folding table in front of the TV and relax doing them slowly while watching football + beer.

moonweasel - Try -drinking- the beer instead of staring at it. It's really good stuff! I have a feeling you're going to like it. LOL

Nice... very nice. :)

This tom was pretty nasty inside. The outside I used a damp clean sock (cotton) to get the general dirt off. then a damp, slightly dish soapy sock. then a clean water sock. then a dry sock. Looks brand new unless you catch it at a certain angle, you might see some fine scatches etc.

Nice old drums, held up well.

moon - go out to the car and see if there's some Turtle Wax in the trunk. Use it on the shells after you clean them up. Puts a nice (protective) gleam on them.

Will do John.

Tomorrow, need to go pick some up. I've got heads for this tom (12") coming in this week; that's why it went first on the rebuild to do list. :) Went with the standard suggestion everyone went with, coated ambassadors on the front and back. well, everyone seemed to think that would be a good starting point at least. :)
