Original or rewrap??

Loading...

Saw this snare that is advertised as original from 1962. Good price but am wondering if it’s a rewrap. Can’t tell if there is a scarf joint but the way the wrap ends makes me wonder. Advertised at Blue Oyster Pearl. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Michael

That looks like a Pioneer with the original wrap, but even if it's not and the price is right, buy it.

Not to mention, it has it's 57th bithday coming up.Party

I think it's original. The reissue oyster wraps don't look that good. The abalone doesn't stand out in the new stuff. As long as it's really the drum in the photos I think you're good (those low quality photos have me very suspicious).

Hey Gang,

Sorry for the bad pictures, they needed to be lowered in quality to post them.

I ended up getting the drum and when i questioned the seller about the color (blue oyster) along with the condition and wrap originality he actually guaranteed the drum and said I could return it for a full refund. Couldn't go wrong or pass it up so it shall be delivered in the next week !

Thanks again for everyone's input and help.

Interesting though, I've never seen a date stamp that legible. Especially being that old.

I’ll have to post some of the stamps from other drums. I have several with very clear date stamps

If you ever get tired of this drum let me know 1962 was my birth year and I would love to have that drum. I have a oyster blue kit at home waiting for a matching snare. Oh heck I know you will never sell it, I'm happy for you nice score!

Thank you!
