Origin of Leedy bass drum

Loading...

Greetings all,

I recently acquired an old Leedy bass drum. It is 28", single tension, calf heads, painted black (original), front head has windmill scene that I have seen in a 30's Leedy catalogue. This drum has a factory installed blinking light. On the vent hole where the cord exits the drum, there is a round, gold-colored badge about the size of a half-dollar. It states Leedy on the top of the circle, and Indianapolis on the bottom. As I understood, Leedy Indianapolis did not use a badge. Can anyone tell me where this drum might have been made or its approximate vintage?

Thanks in advance for any information.

cheers, andy

Leedy Indianapolis snare drums did not have a badge, but their bass drums did. If the badge says Indianapolis it would be from the '20s; if it says Elkhart, it would be from the '30s.
