Orange Sparkle, or Gold Sparkling Pearl?

Loading...

This set of drums is in amazing condition. There is the normal buckling of wrap at the bass lugs, and some grime from the years, but other than a good cleaning and getting the original tom mount back on, this is a joy! No fade, not even under the lugs, and the color is so vibrant. The shells are near perfect, and the edges are clean, if not really any real contour...but we shall see how they sing when they are back in playable condition, and then when new heads are on.

And the heads are on the way. I am putting coated Ambassadors on all batters, and not sure yet about the resos. I may go with some Attacks, since a whole set of them is 30 bucks.

I will post more as I get to them, over the next few hours, or days...I am "storm chasing" now, and have to go sign some roofs in the morning. Anyone want to get a new roof while I'm at it?

Yup...Astro from the early-ish 70s, with the Pearl "battleship" lugs on them to boot. These are quality drums, not yer normal MIJ fare....The badges are now on the badge page, it was a new one for us, and Dave posted it a couple of days ago. Says: Astro Japan. The shell lay up is thin maple, thick mahog, thin maple. Nice stuff.

I used Attack's for resos a few times. They were O.K.,and came with a free snare batter, which was O.K.,too.They remind me of the heads that come on Gretsch Catalinas for reso's.I used clears, like Ambassador clears,or G1's.Nice drums,by the way.
