Orange Drums, France, Info please

Loading...

I found a 4 piece shellpack, blac´k wrap or paint, OrangeDrums.

I know nothing about them.I just find in vintagesnares.com that they was "Made in France".

They are missing some hoops, and have bad heads. Price app 50 Euro ( 68$).

I allready have to many sets, but i this a great deal, or not? Is there any value att all in OrangeDrums? Was they good or bad?

For that price, and the fact they are an oddity, they may well be worth buying if they are good shells. You could rescue them and restore tham and sell off as a good gigging kit. Could be worth about 300 to the right person, if it is hard to find quality drums in your area.

On the other hand, if the shells are typical mahogany Asian shells, they could make a good project and donation to a deserving child in need of drums to learn on....

And the hi-hat stand could well be worth the trip, so it moght not be such a bad isea to pick this kit up and give it a go. If you are so situated that you can afford to help a young, talented child that could not afford drums any other way, this could well make the next Cosy Powell, or Buddy Rich, or....we just never know.

Hello,

As jonnistix stated, for EUR 50 it's no mistake to buy them. Depending on the country, where you live, it could be a task afterwards to catch the missing parts. I am not from France and I have no clue about Capelle spare parts - but just the imagination that it not very easy ... Be aware that it needs time and work and patience to put it into a workable condition again.

I'd buy those if I were you – they look well built and 50euros is not too much to spend.

I am from Sweden, and this is the first time I see a OrangeDrums, exept in the catalogs from VintageSnares.

So to find parts, I do not belive it´s easy at all...I have not see Orange drums on e-bay either.

Chapelle drums I see for sale 5-6 times in past 20 year I play drums, but it was set from the end of 80;s beginig of 90:s, I guesss. Not from 70:s.

Ok, set is cheap. but It can take med 10 years to find the parts thats maybe is missing ( tomholder and so on).

And I do not belive lot of people would even know what I mean If I wrote "Black Orange drums for sale"

If they were GOOD sounding kit, ok, but as far no one says so, I do not belive I have time to work with those drums.

I recently got a Camco I have to work with ( missing original tomholders).

But I am going to look at them this week. Never know...

I would buy them hand's down..The set is a rare set to come by for what i know about orange drum's the set is from the late 50's-60's shell's are beechwood 3 or 5 ply with or with-out ring's-think 60's sonor shell's..As far as the tom mount that i see is the only main part missing --other then the rim's on the toms head's/rims are not metric--you could always change out the clip mounts on the tom to round slingerland clip mounts...Mikey

Just going from distant memory here, but I think I read somewhere that orange drums were of good quality, and had a lot of similarities to another French Drum company, possibly Cappelle or ASBA.Possibly that some of the parts would be interchangeable.

Orange were originally Jacques Cappelle. In the U.S. the advertised the Hi-hat stand and Bass drum pedal as for sale here. I played on them and I thought they were pretty nice. I still use the Asba Caroline bass pedal daily.

As I wrote in the other thread you started about the same kit - very nice drums.

Did you get the kit, as it doesn´t seem to be for sale anymore...jeg er iøvrigt fra Danmark, så om du behøver assistance kan jeg kanske hjælpe?
