can anybody help me identify this OLYMPIC Snare?
When is it from?
Which material is it ? (shell is non-magnetic...)
Any ideas about value?
i will clean it up soon, looks like it might be nice!
thanks!!!
Thats a beauty.Looks to be a 60,s plain old steel shell which will sound great. The Brits know what they,re doing.Cleaning it will be a chore thoughYes Sir
wouldn't it be magnetic if it was steel???
True,but i did,nt think Olympic had a brass model.Im not 100% on that,but it could be.
maybe Aluminium?!
also the bearing edges are bent back towards the shell..... normal??
it'S also very light, unusual for maybe being brass...
it is made of an alloy (whatever they could melt) not alu, brass or steel
it is from 1960's and is model 1005
Remove all the lugs, wash down the lugs and shell in white vinegar, dry.
Hit them with any non abrasive chrome or metal polish/cleaner, buff with soft cloth.
Re-assemble, play and enjoy.
OR
Sell it. $100 tops.

I am actually thinking of selling, 'cause i already own too many snares, and i am more a fan of Ludwig snare drums.....

Is that a full 14" or one of the 350mm shells? That might help date it more accurately. It might be hard to find hoops for it if it is the smaller shell although I think that some 14" hoops will work o.k.
